Figure Drawing

Here are some figures from last nights session, all 15 min poses. I really enjoy figure drawing and hope to improve alot whilst at the academy. Also a picture of Ryan, a student from the academy. I am going to attempt to capture each person at least once hehe.

Illustration Academy

So I have begun the Illustration Academy in Kansas City Missouri and am having a great time so far. I was pleasently surprised to find out the studio was on the 6th floor of an old factory in an industrial area of Kansas. Its awesome here. The space is so huge and I'm surrounded by approx 40 other Illustration students. Here are a few photos of the space and updates of work to come.

America

Well I just arrived in Los Angeles today Hooray. It was quite an eventful journey but I finally made it (thanks to the help of some awesome people.) So it's sorta cold atm but hopefully it warms up when I arrive back to LA on the 3rd of August. Hostel International Santa Monica is where I'm staying the night and its a really nice place, clean and roomy and has a great atmosphere.I also went for a walk tonight and was amazed by how massive the stores are!I brought a bikini top as I forgot my bathers and it was only $12! The bookstore Barnes and Noble was open till 11 so I chilled out there and read a bunch of art books and mags. I will be leaving to go to Kansas in about 7 hours, wish I had booked another day in LA so I could head to the Getty but oh well. Anyway I haven't got much art to show yet but will make sure I update with at least one image per day from now on.

Bye for now buddies!

MENAGERIE – CONTEMPORARY INDIGENOUS SCULPTURE

I visited this current exhibition thats on till January at the museum and recommend anyone in Perth should do the same

http://www.museum.wa.gov.au/whats-on/whats-on-now/#perth

There is some really beautiful work there and I enjoyed reading each artists statement
The love and appreciation they have for wildlife and nature is really something we could all learn alot from.

One of the many artists I admire

I frequent Borders quite alot and treat it more like a library then a store due to my poor student status. Anyway I was looking through the journal New American Paintings and came across some lovely work by an artist called Danielle Rante.

Although I am studying illustration at the moment I really want to experiment more with this sort of art. I find it so beautiful and love the fact that every person can look at it and get something different from it due to its abstract nature. The paper, the shapes, the colours, the marks are all so lovely in my eyes.
